Abstract The effect of CO on the gasification a Polish coal-derived char was investigated in fluidised bed from 1123 to 1248?K. Rate expressions developed Ergun's mechanism or modified three-step reaction mechanism, coupled with Cylindrical Pore Interpolation Model (CPIM) account for intra-particle mass transfer, were predict and CO. Compared rate expression, expression has an extra term pco, making inhibition more pronounced. agreement between experimental numerical results satisfactory both models simulating by CO2/N2. Then, when (1% 3%) intentionally introduced feed gas (CO2/N2), rates significantly decreased. It found that model based over-estimated rate, while agreed data.
